Service Description
Give It a Go: Trauma, the Body & Yoga Various Monday's 11-12:30pm at Space to Move Dates: April 27th, 11th & 18th May These session explores how trauma affects the brain and body, and how gentle yoga, movement and breathing can support healing and wellbeing. No previous yoga experience is needed. The sessions are suitable for complete beginners. You will be welcomed into a calm and supportive space where you can explore how yoga may help regulate the nervous system and reconnect with the body. Each session includes: • A short, accessible introduction to the topic (10–15 minutes) • A gentle, trauma-sensitive yoga practice • A guided relaxation The practices are slow and invitational. You are always encouraged to move in ways that feel comfortable for your body. The focus is on building awareness, safety and self-regulation rather than achieving poses. In this session we will explore: • Understanding the nervous system and the stress response • Simple practices for grounding and regulation • Gentle movement and breath awareness • Connecting mind and body through movement and attention • Developing body awareness at your own pace • Rest and relaxation practices to calm the nervous system • Practical tools you can use in everyday life All practices are optional and you are always welcome to rest or adapt movements at any time. There is no expectation to share personal experiences. Kali Bio Kali Buttrick is a counsellor and yoga teacher who has trained in trauma-informed approaches and trauma-sensitive yoga. She is passionate about helping people develop a safer, more compassionate relationship with their bodies through gentle, choice-based yoga practices. Her work is informed by both professional training and personal experience of the benefits yoga can bring after trauma, and she aims to create supportive spaces where participants can explore movement, breath, and rest at their own pace.
