The People

Space to Move has been created by entrepreneurs and long-time friends Jules Laville & Louise Handy.

Between them, they have a wealth of business, teaching, creative and community engagement experience.

Our Invitation

Whatever your fitness or non-fitness level and body type we warmly invite you to come along and try a class.

You don’t need to be able to touch your toes, you don’t need the latest gear, and you don’t need to look like a god or goddess. It's never too late to start moving. Just come as you are.

Space to Move is simply a nice place to be.

We look forward to welcoming you.

The Choices

Yoga:

There are many styles of yoga from gentle to more dynamic. They all use traditional poses, breathing and mindful disciplines that develop your flexibility, strength, self awareness that become useful in your day to day. We offer regular classes in Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, Yin, Restorative, Nidra, Pregnancy and Post-natal styles, and workshops in a variety of other approaches.

Beginners Yoga:

At Space To Move we run regular beginners six and eight week courses. You will learn the fundamental form/alignment for the most popular yoga poses used within yoga. We also have regular classes which are appropriate for beginners. See our Beginners page.

Dance:

Dancing enables purposeful movement and provides a form of expression. We offer classes and worksops in various styles.

Meditation:

Meditation is part of many of our classes and we offer additional workshops and courses which explore meditation and other related disciplines further.

The Collaborations

Peninsula Medical School:

Space To Move is delighted to host 1st and 2nd year medical students from Peninsula Medical School at various sessions throughout the academic year as part of their curriculum. We couldn't have been more pleased that the lovely people at Peninsula totally understood our ethos when we first set up and we continue to share with them how much benefit can be had (both physical and mental) from movement based exercise.

By collaborating in this way to provide evidence of these health benefits to the doctors of the future, we all hope to alleviate not just individual suffering but also pressure on the healthcare system and over-reliance on prescription medication.

Keele University Medical School:

Space To Move is also delighted to have hosted a final year medical student in 2023 from Keele University Medical School for his final year elective placement. He was with us for several weeks during the early summer gaining an appreciation of yoga, meditation and movement as an alternative/complementary method to improve overall wellbeing (including mental and physical health). He explored and presented back to his contemporaries the positive benefits of such activity, including information from published literature and from participant feedback.
